Triathletes at the 2018 Inter-Counties Cross Country Champs

Bethany Cook wins Inter-Counties XC Champs in Loughborough

The Inter-Counties Cross Country Championships all but draws to a close the 2017/18 domestic cross country season. As I’ve been doing over the past few months, a quick look back at Saturday’s racing from Prestwold Hall, Loughborough at some familiar triathlon-related names who appeared at or near the top of the results sheets.

Headlines go to Bethany Cook (Bodyworks XTC), who took Gold in the Under-15 women’s event. Bethany is part of triathlon dynasty, with father Glenn Cook (World Championship Silver, 1989) and mother Sarah Coope (third at Kona in 1991), one of a number of talented multisport siblings.

Second place in that race was Scotland’s Lily-Jane Evans-Hagerty, who is also a member of the Scottish Triathlon performance squad.

After winning the English National Championships recently at Parliament Hill, former international triathlete Adam Hickey took third in Loughborough, with Elite duathlete Carl Avery in fifth. Former Duathlon World Champion, Katie Hewison, added tenth at the Inter-Counties to her fifth place at the English National Championships.
