Supertri Chicago 2025 women's results: Lehair holds off Olympic star Taylor-Brown

Jeanne Lehair became a three-time Supertri winner with an impressive victory on what became a run battle at Supertri Chicago.

The Luxembourg athlete was in the mix throughout and having earned a short chute herself she made it count on the final run to see off Georgia Taylor-Brown and youngster Fanni Szalai.

That made it a double for Podium Racing following Alberto Gonzalez Garcia’s success in the men’s race.

Here’s how it all played out over three ‘mini-triathlons’…

Stage 1

Unlike the men’s race it was a little more bunched up in the swim.

But it was 17-year-old Hungarian phenom Szalai who led it out for Brownlee Racing. Her previous best was seventh so this was a big step up.

Exiting the water she looked certain to take the short chute but there was nothing between her and Zuzana Michalickova crossing the line, though the verdict just went to the youngster.

Szalai then led out the bike but by the third of three loops it was all back together – just five seconds separating the top 12.

Taylor-Brown moved to the front but going into T2 it was Lehair who came through to snap up the second short chute for Podium Racing.

The run saw Lehair underline her prowess to deny the rest the final short chute but it was close going into the second stage.

Stage 2

Diving in for the swim it was still Lehair in front. But Taylor-Brown and Szalai weren’t far behind, along with Rosa Maria Tapia Vidal.

Szalai has been in fantastic form of late – with her swim a real weapon – and she helped the chasers bridge the gap to Lehair.

Lehair was still first out of the water but it was close, just seven seconds between what was now a front six – Miriam Casillas García and Desirae Ridenour joining the other four.

Those six started to put real distance into the rest and now it was time for the short chute decisions.

No surprises there – Brownlee Racing went with Szalai while Podium’s went to Lehair, the duo who had earned them in the first place.

Starting the run and it was Casillas García who had the best transition and led it out, though there was little between the leading sextet.

However six went down to five as the elastic snapped for Ridenour.

Stage 3

It was set up perfectly starting the third stage – just a handful of seconds covered the front five – and all looked relatively comfortable. The podium would surely come from them.

At the end of the swim Lehair led it out, just ahead of Taylor-Brown, Szalai, Tapia Vidal and Casillas García. The rest were 41 seconds and more back.

No surprise on the bike to see it stick together.

But T2 saw it spread out a bit – a tremendous transition from Lehair saw her out first while GTB and Szalai lost a bit of ground.

But as it started to settle down Lehair maintained her lead, with Taylor-Brown her closest pursuer. The short chute changed things though – Lehair took her one and moved away into the distance.

Szalai also had one and moved right onto the shoulder of Taylor-Brown in the battle for second.

And that was how it finished – Lehair claiming the win and Taylor-Brown holding off Szalai for the runner-up spot.

The victory moved Lehair top of the overall standings ahead of GTB.
