Vincent Luis impressive, as ever, in Super League Triathlon action

Kristian Blummenfelt ready to challenge the French champion

He’s the ITU Triathlon World Champion, the reigning Super League Triathlon Champion and the winner 12 months ago of Super League Triathlon Malta. On Saturday at Vittoriosa Marina, Vincemt Luis (FRA) gave no indication that he is ready to end his run of success, crossing the line first in Semi-Final #1, to ease into the final. Another athlete who’s had a breakthrough season, Hayden Wilde (NZL), put aside a bike crash on Friday, stitches in his face and road rash to take second place. ‘The Falcon’ is looking forward to Sunday afternoon.

In Semi-Final #2, Kristian Blummenfelt blew the field away with an awesome display of power on the bike and run, winning his race in a time a touch quicker than the French athlete. With Sunday’s final starting with an individual bike time trial, could ‘Big Blu’ put the all-conquering Luis under real pressure? It should be a cracker.
