US Olympic triathlon star Morgan Pearson has ruled himself out of the T100 Triathlon World Tour opener in Singapore on Sunday April 6 following a nasty bike crash in training.

The 31-year-old was selected by the Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO) as a ‘Hotshot’ for the seven-race schedule in 2025.

However, the two-time Olympic medallist (he won Mixed Relay silver at both Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024) has confirmed he will miss the opening event of the flagship series after the bike crash left him with a fractured wrist.

Posting on his Instagram account, Pearson announced the untimely news just two weeks before the Singapore event.

“Unfortunately I will not be able to start @t100triathlon Singapore next week,” he said

“I had a nasty crash on the bike and fractured my wrist. I tried to work through it for a bit but decided with @drcsportsmed it would be wise to just let the bone heal and not push it.

Recovery timeline for Morgan

“The fracture takes about 4-6 weeks to heal and it has already been a few weeks so I’m hoping to be fit and ready for the rest of the season. Luckily, I can still train a bit in this split / removable cast.

“I’m excited to still have the opportunity to go out to Singapore for the @t100triathlon race and check out the race format and competition in person.”

It is unclear as of yet whether the PTO and the T100 Triathlon World Tour will add a replacement to the start list which boasts defending T100 champion Martin Van Riel and IRONMAN 70.3 World Champion Jelle Geens among others.
