Earlier in the week, the PTO finally made their long awaited announcement regarding their race calendar for the season and it did not disappoint, as they officially launched the T100 Triathlon World Tour.
The series, which will be held in eight different locations including iconic cities such as London, Miami and Dubai, will also see 40 of the best professional men and women in the world contracted to the tour.
In the aftermath of the announcement, many members of the triathlon community were quick to express their excitement for the tour, including a recently retired Olympic gold medalist and multiple-time world champion.
“The fear of missing out is real”
Whether the post was in jest or not, it seems that triathlon legend Jan Frodeno will be one of many people wishing they were racing the first edition of the T100 Triathlon World Tour, as the German joked on Instagram about a return to racing.
“Fair to say the fear of missing out is real after the @professionaltriathletesorg T100 World Tour announcement. Can I get a wildcard to travel the world again @emma_snowsill?”
Having taken a memorable win at the PTO Tour US Open in Milwaukee last season, will Frodeno be able to resist the temptation of taking a wildcard slot if one becomes available in 2024?
Having shown on more than one occasion last year that he’s still a world class athlete, and with fellow 40+ year olds Anne Haug and Javier Gomez contracted for the tour, is it that unfeasible that the 42-year-old races professionally once more?
