Jan Frodeno, still chasing ‘perfect day’, joins Supersapiens

Whisper it quietly but Jan Frodeno believes he can get even better after becoming the latest star athlete to sign up with Supersapiens.

Jan Frodeno says he still hasn’t had his ‘perfect day’ in triathlon yet – and is now targeting even greater performance after becoming the latest star athlete to sign with Supersapiens.

The U.S.-based sports performance company has made huge investment into the sport recently, inking a major deal with IRONMAN to become title sponsor of the World Championship in Kona for 2021 and 2022.

Partnering with the 39-year-Frodeno – himself already a three-time Kona winner – is a major coup as triathlon prepares to return to ‘The Big Island’ in October following that COVID hiatus in 2020.

Frodeno a major coup for Supersapiens

“Adding an athlete as world-class as Jan to the Supersapiens team makes perfect sense,” said the company’s CEO Phil Southerland.

“A dominant competitor who recently began integrating the latest tech in his training, we are proud to work with Jan on his fueling strategy and empower him to make data-backed decisions to maximise performance.”

Frodeno himself believes he has not yet reached the limits of his own performance – a terrifying thought for the rivals trying in vain to knock him off top spot in the long-distance hierarchy.

“Having had the chance to use the technology in training over the last few months, I’ve realised how much there is for me to learn,” he said.

“I’ve already made significant changes to my fuelling based on the data and I’ll look to implement more over the coming years as my body adapts and I continue my pursuit for excellence.”

Jan still seeking ‘perfect day’

“I haven’t had my perfect day in long-distance triathlon yet. I am still searching for my own personal limits.”

Supersapiens has also bought up title sponsorship of a number of major European events, including IRONMAN UK (which takes place in Bolton on Sunday), IRONMAN Hamburg, IRONMAN France and IRONMAN Emilia Romagna.

The next big date in Frodeno’s calendar is that much-publicised TRI BATTLE Royale head-to-head with Lionel Sanders. That is scheduled to take place in Allgäu, Germany on Sunday July 18.
