Who were the speedy amateur athletes at IRONMANÂ UK Bolton on Sunday?

Before taking a look at all of the AG winners (listed below), lets take a quick look at the fastest athletes overall…
Let’s start with the men this time, where Brian Fogarty (who was out ERDINGER Athlete of the Month for May), followed up his fantastic race at IRONMAN Lanzarote with, perhaps, an even better one in Bolton. Last year Brian was the second fastest AG athlete overall, winning the 30-34 category in a swift 9:12:30. That made him the seventh fastest athlete overall, based on time. This year her went even better – fastest AG athlete overall, fourth fastest time of the day and a 9:02:54 finish time. His 4:50:42 bike split was the quickest over the day too, faster than Pro winner, Cyril Viennot.
For the women, it was Sophie Bubb (35-39) who takes ‘overall’ honours this year, her 10:44:28 finish bring her home just over six minutes quicker than Lucy Walmsley (45-49). To give some perspective how good those two performances were, both won their categories by over an hour and 20 minutes! Sophie was also the fastest AG athlete in 2016 – and in 12 months has improved from 11:04:41 to 10:44:28. Impressive work.
