Great Britain’s Olympic Mixed Team Relay bronze medallist Sam Dickinson is eyeing up success at IRONMAN 70.3 Swansea following a strong outing at the 70.3 European Championships in Jönköping.

The 27-year-old recorded a time of 3:37:06 in Sweden at the weekend to finish 89 seconds behind victor Fabian Kraft of Germany to book his place at the 70.3 World Championships.

Dickinson, who claimed his maiden 70.3 crown last year in Italy, is keen to maintain his strong 2025 to date in Swansea, with three top five finishes in three races so far this term.

Dickinson took to Instragram to express his pleasure as he claimed the silver medal in the 70.3 European Championships, describing the result as a “fair reflection” of his performance.

“Consistency in training reflecting consistent racing is never something I can take for granted. So happy to take a podium after a couple of fourth place finishes.

“Patience has been crucial to stay healthy this year, glad to see small improvements but hopefully I can gently push the accelerator pedal in the next block to find more performance.

“Congrats @fabikra_99 classy race and @gabrielsandor for the podium battle. Also great to see the level rising every year in this sport.”

IRONMAN 70.3 Swansea in the crosshairs

The York-born triathlete will now turn his attention to IRONMAN 70.3 Swansea which takes place this Sunday (13 July) on Wales’ south coast.

Part of the IRONMAN Pro Series, Dickinson will line up against fellow Brit Palmer – who won the race 12 months ago – once again in addition to the likes of IRONMAN Frankfurt runner-up and Challenge The Championship victor Kristian Høgenhaug.

“Bouncing straight into Swansea 70.3 this weekend for another cracking course and stiff competition. As always thanks to my team having my back throughout this process.”
