The 10th Hever Castle Triathlon (castletriathlonseries.co.uk) promises to bring an epic end of triathlon season finale to the iconic castle venue on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd September.
The event will see celebrity speakers such as BBC Breakfast’s Louise Minchin who will join triathletes in the new Speaker’s Tent, with live bands on the Main Stage, a full retail and food village, free yoga sessions every hour and a headline jazz band performing on the Loggia as swimmers prepare for the first ever Night Swim at Hever Castle.
With the Royal Navy Parachute Display team ‘dropping in’ for a visit, and a host of new run and swim events, Hever Castle Triathlon 2018 is promising to deliver a true celebration of swim, bike and run.
A triathlon distance for all
With 46 wave starts over the weekend, and a race distance for everyone, whether you’re looking for a middle distance season finale with Hever Castle’s Gauntlet Race, or you are a beginner and want to give triathlon a go you can try your hand at a Starter Triathlon – 200m swim, 15km cycle and 2km run. For rising star triathletes there are junior races on both the Saturday and Sunday with races for 8-10 year olds, 11-12 year olds and 13-15 year olds, all enjoying Hever Castle’s lake and estate grounds.
New race formats for 2018
As well as a whole host of triathlon racers, the 10th multi-sport weekend festival welcomes half marathon and 10k runners to the stunning off-road run course for the first time, as well as 1-mile, 2.5k and 5k open water swim races in Hever Castle’s lake. The addition of run and swim only races opens the iconic courses to a wider range of athletes for the first time, as well as providing training distances for triathletes.
A thrilling addition to the weekend is the Hever Castle Night Swim, taking place at the Loggia. The Night Swim promises an atmospheric and unique opportunity to swim under the stars in Hever Castle’s Lake and the River Eden. Lit by neon glow sticks, with atmospheric lighting and music, the night swim (with 400m, 750m or 1500m races) promises to be a spectacle for spectators and swimmers alike.
A weekend of sport with a festival atmosphere
Castle Triathlon Series events are renowned for offering a spectacular finish line and festival village, right outside iconic castles.
The tenth event at Hever Castle promises to be the most impressive festival village yet. With free Yoga sessions every hour, climbing walls and a traditional fair ground and a retail and food village amongst an exciting day of racing, the Hever Castle Triathlon event village and Finish Line Area is a great place to witness athletes complete their inspirational feats.
The Main Stage will play host to live bands throughout the day, as well as the local Rock Choir. At 6pm, as the sun begins to set and the event prepares or the first Night Swim, the up-and-coming jazz band Pixie and the Gypsies will treat the crowd to their modern gypsy-jazz hits as the sun sets over Hever Castle’s Loggia.
