Olympic champion Gwen Jorgensen has rolled on to the start list for WTCS Hamburg, where the American former world champion will attempt to keep the ball rolling after finishing second at the World Triathlon Cup Huatulco.

Last time out on the WTCS circuit, Jorgensen endured a tough time of it as she was lapped out on the bike following a poor swim in Cagliari. This time round, Jorgensen will hope her improved form and change of format will help her finish higher up the field.

Currently ranked #149 in the world, the Rio 2016 champion will be relying on a good result in Hamburg if she has any ambitions of featuring at the Paris Test Event or the WTCS Grand Final later on in the year.

Jorgensen on Hamburg boost

After only finding out earlier this week that she would be racing in Germany, Jorgensen announced on her Instagram that she would be making the trip out from Colorado ahead of the first round of qualifying on Friday.

“Did a criterium with Patrick Lemieux on Wednesday. Was planning to do it again this week until I got the call up to race Hamburg WTCS – found out at 10am I’m on the start list and am at the airport now flying to Germany! Let’s go!!”

Along with Katie Zaferes, Taylor Spivey, Summer Rappaport and Kirsten Kasper, Jorgensen will not only hope to do well in the individual race, but will also be vying for a spot on the mixed team relay squad that will race on Sunday.
