Olympic Champion is racing 5000 metres indoors in Seattle tonight

After dominating the world of triathlon and winning the Olympic Gold medal in 2016, Gwen Jorgensen announced in November 2017 that she would be hanging up her trisuit to take on a new challenge, targeting another Olympic Gold medal in the Marathon at Tokyo 2020. The first (racing) steps on that journey will begin tonight (Friday) at the Husky Classic in Seattle.

Her race is 5.10 p.m. local (Pacific Time), which is 1.10 a.m. UK-time (early Saturday morning).

Gwen will be facing quality opposition too, including Emily Infeld (Bronze medallist at the 2015 World Championships over 10000m) and Courtney Frerichs (Silver medallist in London at the World Championships in the 3000m Steeplechase). Infeld won the U.S. Cross Country Championships last weekend, with Frerichs in fourth.
