Former Age Group duathlon star Georgia Bell claimed an incredible bronze medal for Great Britain in the Olympics 1500m at Paris 2024 as the 30-year-old star continues her incredible rise to the top in athletics.

The former University of California-Berkley athlete, who was a promising runner before stepping away from the sport, has made impressive strides in athletics since returning to the track post-pandemic.

Balancing a job in cyber security with her athletics career, Bell had already performed heroics this summer by claiming 1500m silver in the European Athletics Championships in Rome in June. But she took things to a whole new level in Paris on Saturday with a brilliant Olympics bronze.

Brilliant bronze for Bell

Having won the World Duathlon Championship title in 2023, when she represented the British age-group team in Ibiza, Bell has since seen her athletics go from strength-to-strength. Earlier this year, she signed a professional contract with Nike.

Saturday night’s spectacular performance in Paris was quite brilliant as she chased home Faith Kipyegon of Kenya (new Olympic Record of 3:51.29) and Australia’s Jessica Hull (3:52.56). She was a whisker away from silver – just .05 behind Hull at the line after clocking 3:52.61.

Before Saturday’s race Georgia had summed up her amazing journey in a heartfelt post on her Instagram account.

She wrote: “30 years ago I was born in Paris. Tonight I’m back racing in the Olympic final. It’s been an unconventional journey, full of highs and lows.

“Between quitting & coming back, working full time and only breaking through this year, the chances were so unlikely.

“So the fact that I’m here, I truly feel like it’s all meant to be and that my whole life has led to this moment.”

“Anything can happen in an Olympic final and this season has showed me what’s possible when you race without limits.”

“Ready to give it everything I’ve got ??”

We think it’s fair to say Georgia did that, and then some. What an incredible performance, congratulations!
