The Eton Dorney ITU Paratriathlon World Cup is just one month away, with many of the best British paratriathletes targeting big performances on home soil. The London 2012 Olympic rowing venue will play host to what’s set to be a thrilling and unmissable event for both athletes and spectators.

On Monday 28 May, Eton Dorney will be the host of the ITU Paratriathlon World Cup, bringing together world-class talent alongside the biggest names in the sport to go-head-to-head for a podium top spot. For those inspired by the gold medal-winning performances of Joe Townsend and Jade Jones-Hall at the recent Commonwealth Games, the event will pose the best opportunity to watch the world’s best paratriathletes line up alongside each other in Great Britain in 2018.

The ITU Paratriathlon World Cup also brings with it an essential development opportunity for aspiring triathletes and paratriathletes who are keen to try the sport. Participants from age eleven are invited to try both triathlon and paratriathlon in the safe, flat and traffic free environment of Eton Dorney the very same day.

There are open races catering for complete beginners to those wanting to test themselves up to sprint distance, which is the recognised Paralympic distance. All entry fees will go towards the staging of the event and to charity, Arctic One, for any future charitable activity, plus paratriathlon equipment and participation opportunities.

Andy Lewis, 2016 Paralympic Gold medallist, said: “My 2018 season is set to start in less than a month, and I’m excited to welcome some of the world’s best paratriathletes to a home World Cup event.

“The event will also be an important step for young athletes trying their first triathlon in an inspiring environment, who knows where they might end up in the future?”

Andy Salmon, CEO of British Triathlon, said “After the success of Joe Townsend and Jade Jones-Hall on the Gold Coast, it’s an exciting time for paratriathlon here in the UK. We look forward to welcoming some of the world’s best paratriathletes, including Paralympic heroes, to British soil for an exciting showcase for the sport.”

He added: “The event kick-starts two weeks of international triathlon and paratriathlon events across Great Britain, and we hope to inspire even more participation in a sport that caters for all.”

ITU President and IOC Member, Marisol Casado, said: “For me it is an honour to welcome the best paratriathletes in the world here to Eton Dorney for the Paratriathlon World Cup. I have to say that I am extremely proud of the work done in the city, the organising committee and British Triathlon to support the sport of paratriathlon from grassroots through to elite; allowing participants to enjoy the thrill of competition whatever their level in the sport.”
