Another British Elite Duathlon Championship for Emma Pallant on Sunday?
Bedford Aerodrome to host the 2017 British Duathlon Championships
2016 saw a memorable race at the Windsor Duathlon, when World Champion Emma Pallant, along with her ‘retired’ (!) coach (and also World Champion back in 2005), Michelle Dillon, proved to be a class apart on the bike, to drop the field and take Gold and Silver in Windsor Great Park. While Michelle won’t be racing this weekend, Emma will be there, for a championship she has practically made her own in recent years.
Since moving away from the ITU racing, Emma has arguably found her niche, earning top results in Bahrain (second) and Dubai (fourth) in recent months. Along with her two victories at the World Duathlon Championships in 2015 and 2016, that profile attracted the attention of the BMC-Etixx Pro Triathlon Team, whom she has joined for 2017. With the support to match her work ethic, could this be the best year yet for the former European Under-23 Cross Country Champion? She is certainly ready for Sunday, and another busy season:
“I’m looking forward to racing after a fab block of training in Spain with Team Dillon and on my new BMC bike, courtesy of BMC-Etixx Pro Triathlon Team.
“It is the start of our main 2017 season, and I will be focusing on the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championships as well as the World Duathlon Championships. They fit in well with timings and locations, so will compliment each other nicely.”
“The main aim (for 2017) will be for 70.3 podiums this year and just to keep progressing under (coaches) Michelle and Stu, with added expertise of BMC-Etixx.”
