Triathlete – now track cyclist – selected for Gold Coast 2018
A regular feature in my “triathletes who went on to do other sports rather well” articles in recent years, Dan Bigham has today had confirmation of selection for Team England at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
Still with strong triathlon connections – Dan is a consultant for HUUB Design and has also had significant input into the bike fit of Alistair Brownlee since his move to longer distance racing, among other links through his WattShop business – Bigham and his Team KGF team mates have been making headlines in recent months, racing in Track World Cup Cycling events from outside of the British Cycling Squad.
Just last week Dan raced at the Track World Championships in Apledoorn, The Netherlands, in the 4000m Individual Pursuit. His team mate, Charlie Tanfield, won Gold as part of the Team Pursuit squad, while Dan set the ninth fastest time (4:20.647) in the Individual Pursuit Qualifying.

2017 was a standout season for Dan, winning National Championship titles at 10, 25 and 50 miles, British Track Championship Gold in the Kilo, Individual pursuit and Team Pursuit plus further TT success in the National Team Time Trial and Circuit Championship
Such has been the interest in the story of the “lads from Derby, taking on the best in the world“, many have said it would make a great film. Actually, what will surely be a very interesting documentary will be released soon…
