Seven years on from London 2012

It’s exactly seven years ago today that the Men’s Triathlon at the London 2012 Olympic Games in Hyde Park saw Great Britain’s Alistair Brownlee earn the first (so far?!) of his Olympic Gold medals.

To celebrate that, we’ve been digging around in our archives to relive those memories.

Tuesday 7th August 2012 was an incredible day for British T(t)riathlon as we finally secured an Olympic medal. And then 30 seconds later, another one! Living up to his favourite tag and all of the home country pressure, Alistair Brownlee delivered in fine style at an event watched by hundreds of thousands of spectators in and around Hyde Park.

Here is an image gallery of his day via the photographic skills of the ITU’s team of Delly Carr and Janos Schmidt.

Post-race Alistair said he felt good all day – and that day was started with a great swim, exiting the water in the leading group of six with a 20 seconds margin over the chasers.
